Don Thibaut has worked in the government and public affairs arena for more than three decades. A veteran of Ohio political and governing strategy, Thibaut has a range of experience at the state and federal level, before founding The Credo Company.
Thibaut was instrumental in John Kasich’s early political career, aiding Kasich’s election to the Ohio Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives. He went with Kasich to Washington, serving as his Chief of Staff for nearly 20 years.
Born just outside of Grove City and raised in Columbus, Thibaut is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in German Village. He is a history buff and an avid fan of the Texas Longhorns and the Baltimore Orioles.
Bobby Kovey is an experienced business development and government relations consultant, having worked extensively in both the public and private sector.
Prior to founding The Credo Company, Kovey worked within various state offices. He began his career in government in the Ohio Senate. Later, he served as an aide in the Ohio House of Representatives. After his time in the legislature, Kovey managed and worked on several Ohio campaigns.
As managing partner of The Credo Company, Kovey oversees the firm’s multiple lines of business – including business development, government relations, public-private partnerships, and private investment project development.
Since 2010, The Credo Company has become one of the top business development and government relations consulting firms in Ohio. The company assists organizations ranging from Fortune 500 corporations to non-profit associations.
In addition to managing The Credo Co., Kovey serves in other roles with partners across the state. Kovey is one of the founders and Chief Advisor to the Ohio Information Technology Association (OITA) where he helps the tech community in Ohio foster productive relationships with the government and other businesses in Ohio. Likewise, Kovey serves a similar role to the Ohio Premium Cigar & Pipe Association,
The Credo Co.’s unique relationship with Signet Enterprises provides Kovey the opportunity to serve as the Director of Government Relations to Signet – a global private investment firm – while developing potential investment opportunities and public-private partnerships.
Born in Binghamton, N.Y. and raised in Pittsburgh and Northeast Ohio, Kovey is a graduate of The Ohio State University’s Max M. Fisher College of Business. There he earned a B.S.B.A. degree in Finance. Later, Kovey obtained a Certificate in Catholic Social Doctrine & Business Ethics from Catholic University.
Bobby and his family reside in the historic neighborhood of Old Clintonville, and are members of St. Patrick Church. In his spare time, Kovey enjoys spending time with his family, having a cigar, watching movies or following the Cleveland Indians, The Ohio State Buckeyes & the University of Notre Dame.
John McClelland is an experienced government and public affairs professional, and his work at the intersection of policy and politics provides clients with a unique perspective on how organizations can effectively advocate for the issues they care about.
John began his career as a journalist, covering news for radio and television stations from South Carolina to Ohio.
He later became the press secretary for a member of congressional leadership and served as communications director for a battleground state political party and the Ohio Senate.
John serves as the chief advisor and the director for legislative affairs for The Credo Company. Previously, John also founded of Trimac Advisors, a strategic communications firm. He has provided advice and management of government and public affairs campaigns for organizations of all sizes, multiple from Fortune 500 companies to local non-profit groups.
John has a passion for public service. He has consulted with candidates and issue campaigns at the national, state and local level and has received awards for his political advertising work. He has also trained hundreds of grassroots activists in media relations and social media strategies.
John has served the last three political cycles as director of the Republican Senate Campaign Committee, the political operation of the Ohio Senate’s majority caucus. In that role, John manages the campaign strategies that led to the largest majority in state history, and he successfully defended that majority in the face of a challenging 2018 midterm election.
John and his family live in New Albany, Ohio, where he also serves as president of the New Albany-Plain Local School District Board of Education.
Jason Mauk is the director of policy and public affairs for The Credo Company, as well as the founder and president of Jason Mauk & Associates, a government relations and strategic communication firm.
He most recently served as chief of staff for the Ohio Senate, working in that capacity under three Senate presidents. During his tenure, he managed the chamber’s staff and operations, as well as advised Senate leadership on public policy, communications and strategic planning.
He currently is a senior advisor and general consultant to the Republican Senate Campaign Committee, where he helped oversee the election of every sitting member of the Senate’s majority party. In that capacity, he helped create and execute a plan that led Senate Republicans to their largest majority in the chamber’s history.
Prior to joining the Senate, he served as executive director of the Ohio Republican Party, managing one of the nation’s largest and most successful battleground state political organizations through multiple statewide and presidential elections. His accomplishments include a complete, historic sweep of every statewide office and the expansion of both state legislative and congressional majorities.
Jason also worked in numerous communications roles in the public and private sectors, assisting executives with strategic message development, training law enforcement officials in crisis communications and serving as the lead spokesperson for statewide campaigns and public officials. He began his professional career in journalism, covering politics as an award-winning radio and television news reporter and serving as chief political correspondent for the 24-hour Ohio News Network. He currently resides in the Columbus, Ohio suburb of New Albany.
